The advantages of electromagnetic flowmeters:

First, the sensor structure of the electromagnetic flowmeter is relatively simple, and it is one of the flowmeters with the lowest energy consumption in the flowmeter. There are no moving parts in the measuring tube and a throttling part obstructing the flow of the fluid, and no additional pressure loss is caused when the fluid passes through the flow meter;

Second, the flow rate of the corrosive medium, the sloping medium, and the suspended liquid-solid two-phase flow can be measured. This is due to the fact that there is no obstructive flow component inside the metering tube. Only the measuring tube lining and the electrode are in contact with the fluid to be measured, and the material can be selected according to the nature of the fluid to be tested;

Third, the electromagnetic flowmeter is a volumetric flow measuring instrument. During the measurement process, it is not affected by the temperature, viscosity and density of the measured medium with a certain range of electrical conductivity. The electromagnetic flowmeter can be used to measure the flow rate of other conductive liquids only after being calibrated by water;

Fourth, the output of the electromagnetic flowmeter is only proportional to the average flow velocity of the measured medium, independent of the laminar or turbulent state under symmetric distribution. The range of the electromagnetic flowmeter can be as wide as one hundred to one, and the higher the flow rate range of one thousand to one can be achieved;

fifth, The electromagnetic flowmeter has no mechanical inertia and is responsive. It can measure instantaneous pulsating flow and measure the flow in both forward and reverse directions.

The shortcomings of electromagnetic flowmeters. :

First, it cannot be used to measure gases, vapors, and liquids containing large amounts of gas;

Second, it cannot be used to measure liquid media with low conductivity. Electromagnetic flowmeters cannot measure media such as petroleum products or organic solvents.

Third, it cannot be used to measure high temperature media. At present, it is limited by the common industrial electromagnetic flowmeter to measure the lining material and electrical insulating material of the pipe;

Fourth, the electromagnetic flowmeter is susceptible to external electromagnetic interference. Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in applications, and large-diameter instruments are often used in water supply and drainage projects. Small and medium-sized calibers are often used in high-demand or difficult-to-measure applications.

The electromagnetic flowmeter must be installed at the lowest point of the pipeline or the vertical section of the pipeline to ensure the use of the electromagnetic flowmeter and the accuracy requirements.
