How PLC controls a Valve based on Flow Meter?

Hi everyone, I am a student learning about PLC for the steam flow meter. I don’t know how to get a steam flow signal into the PLC and read it. Then, based on the steam flow, the PLC will control the valve on and off.

Hi Mike, thanks for your help. but I am in need of PLC code to read the 4-20mA signal from the steam flow meter. and compare the result to the setting level to control the electric valve
