Purpose of Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation

TSI or turbo supervisory instrumentation are related to instrumentation devices that keep checking, the turbine parameters.

These devices supervise startup, shutdowns and keep an eye on the turbine parameters while running. An alarm and trip limit is imposed on critical parameters so as to avoid damages to turbine during operation.

It is an instrumentation system which monitors Turbine’s mechanical parameters such as Shaft Vibrations, Bearing vibrations, Casing Absolute and differential expansions, Bearing and lub oil temperatures , Turbine shaft RPM, Thrust pad temperature and Shaft position relative to thrust pads.
