Snubbers , Pulsation Dampener, Pressure Equalizer, Gauge Protector.
Different names but same functioning. These are the devices that are used to reduce pressure surges and improve device readability and life.
As per B40.5 “Snubber is a surge dampening device that is designed to minimize the effect of pressure spikes and surges on instrument while allowing changes in system pressure and low frequency pulsation to be transmitted to the instrument.”
Generally snubber are of following type:-

Snubber are generally used for pressure measurement device at pump outlet, gauges exposed to process pulsation etc.and where process pressure may exceed approx 1.3 times full scale deviation.
